Menu Plan Monday

Over at Organized Junkie, Laura is asking how we select recipes for our menus. Finding recipes can be fun; I try to select mostly healthy recipes, especially ones that are going to be heart healthy and not full of empty calories. One minor change we've made is that when a recipe calls for pasta, we use either whole grain or whole wheat pasta. We are also trying to eat some kind of fish (not fried) (for ex: salmon or tilapia) at least twice a week. Foods that will be nutritionally valuable are the main thing I look for. Sure, sometimes we have things like hot dogs or hamburgers, but all in all, we are really trying to lower our fat/calorie intake and eat healthier. Anyway, here's our menu for the week:

Monday: Potato Veggie Chowder, Crackers.
Wednesday: Egg, Turkey Bacon, and Cheese Wraps; Fruit.
Thursday: Crispy Chicken Drumsticks with Ranch, Potatoes, Black-Eyed Peas.
Friday: Homemade Tacos.
Saturday: Baked Tilapia with Pesto, Rice, Peas.
Sunday: Meatloaf, Potatoes, Veggies.
