Things I Love Thursday- Picking Strawberries

This past Monday, we had the opportunity to go get in on some strawberry pickin' with the kids and Grandma, my mom. They absolutely loved it! I think Jaden ate more than anyone; once he found out what we were doing, he was completely happy to mooch off each of our boxes.:) We all had fun, and we came home with quite a few strawberries, which were so delicious.I've had some in the dehydrator all day, and I even made a fruit roll-up with some. Yum! I love getting out and doing stuff like that with my kids, though....it's such a simple thing but provides lots of memories. For more Things I Love Thursday, link up with Diaper Diaries.

Just A Small Part of What a Tornado Can Do

It's quite eerie when you're sitting in your living room during a storm, teaching your son his math, when all of a sudden, the tornado sirens start going off. Well, that's what our morning was all about....ugh. Fortunately, we had no damage here, but it was all around us. These pictures don't really do justice to the damage done by the tornadoes and really bad winds this morning in the storm, but here are just a few things I saw on my travels today; so sad to see trees that have been in the ground for hundreds of years just completely uprooted; kinda puts the power of this storm into perspective just a bit....most of these were out closer to my mom and dad's house. Keep in mind that I was trying to drive and snap pictures with my cell phone at the same time....not the safest thing to do, for sure.:)

This was somebody's camper, but it's pretty much obliterated.

This is actually not very far from our house; actually just a couple streets over.

Vote for Squeekers!

This is my sister's cat, Squeekers. If you wouldn't mind, head on over and vote for her picture.:) Squeekers is quite the kitty from what I hear, and she's just like a part of the family. I know she'd appreciate your vote.:) Thanks a lot!

Revel In Him

What better way to celebrate the resurrection of our Saviour tomorrow, than to revel in God's beautiful creation? Last weekend, we all went out to Grandma's farm, and with the trees budding and the green grass growing, it was just so beautiful. Spring is upon us with all of its splendor; how can we not see God through His touch upon the beauty of our earth right now? Revel in it; revel in Him!:)

Show and Tell Saturdays- Favorite Vacation

A few years ago, when I worked in cardiology in Springfield, one of the doctors I worked for, who was a wonderful doctor to work with, allowed us to use his vacation home in Orlando. It was a nice, little house in a quiet neighborhood, with a little lake behind the house and a walkway going down to it. My favorite part about the house was the sunporch, because we could sit out there in the mornings and just relax and watch the water. We spent most of our time at the beach near Cape Canaveral, but we also spent one day at Disneyworld
(I think he might have had too much sun at this point. LOL)
and 2 days at Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure. We absolutely loved the Universal parks; they were awesome! The E.T. ride was my favorite, because they put us on bicycles, and we got to ride through the parts of the movie. It was just such a fun, relaxing time. We had some great Italian food at a little family-owned restaurant in Orlando, and we fell in love with Checkers and Firehouse Subs, but we also were able to cook a lot. A plus for Jacob was that we got to watch Narnia for the first time on the big screen tv; he is in love with Narnia. The beach was so relaxing and warm and beautiful, though; we swam, played on the boogieboard, hunted for shells, and just had fun! I'd have to say that has been our best vacation yet.
